How to Set a Custom Alias or Domain for Your QR Codes

Last updated on July 23, 2025

Creating QR codes that are short, branded, and memorable can improve engagement and enhance your brand’s credibility. This guide explains how to set up a custom alias or connect your own domain.

What Is a Custom Alias (Vanity Link)?

A custom alias replaces the random string in a short URL with a readable, brand-friendly term. It helps make links more recognizable and trustworthy.

Example:

  • Default URL: qrcod.link/a7x9k3
  • Custom Alias: qrcod.link/yourbrand

What Is a Branded Domain?

A branded domain replaces the default domain (qrcod.link) with your own custom domain, such as qr.yourdomain.com.

TypeExample
Standard Domainqrcod.link
Branded Domainqr.yourdomain.com (Premium Plan required)

How to Create a Custom Alias

  1. Go to the Quick Shortener tool.
  2. Paste your original URL (e.g., your website or landing page).
  3. Select a domain (e.g., qrcod.link).
  4. Enter your desired alias (e.g., yourbrand, offer2025).
  5. Click Shorten.

You’ll receive a branded link like:
qrcod.link/youralias

Generate Your QR Code

  1. Go to the QR Codes section.
  2. Paste your custom link.
  3. Your QR code will be generated and linked to the custom alias.

Using Your Own Domain

If you're on the Premium Plan, you can use your own domain (e.g., qr.yourdomain.com) for even stronger brand alignment.

Example:

  • Original URL: https://yourstore.com/summer-sale
  • Branded QR Link: qr.yourdomain.com/summer25

The QR code will redirect users through your custom, trusted domain.
